The 2025 lineup for California’s Simply Like Heaven music pageant has been introduced. Vampire Weekend will headline, sharing the invoice with TV on the Radio, Bloc Get together, Empire of the Solar, and, most notably, a reunion of Jenny Lewis’ beloved emo band Rilo Kiley, who haven’t performed a present collectively since 2008. Fashioned in 1998, in Silverlake, California, Rilo Kiley first discovered notoriety when “The Frug,” a music from their self-titled EP that picked up play on MTV’s 120 Minutes. Followers shortly fell in love with Lewis’ unfiltered and witty songwriting, and the band launched its full-length debut album, Take Offs and Landings, in 2001. By then, the core lineup of Lewis, her songwriting associate and guitarist Blake Sennett, bassist Pierre de Reeder, and drummer Jason Boesel had solidified, and Rilo Kiley would launch three extra studio albums over the course of the 2000s: 2002’s The Execution of All Issues, 2004’s Extra Adventurous, and 2007’s Beneath the Blacklight. Whereas they performed their final dwell reveals up to now on their Beneath the Blacklight tour, Rilo Kiley didn’t formally announce their breakup till 2013. Lewis, specifically, has cultivated a profitable solo profession within the intervening years, releasing the studio albums The Voyager (2014), On the Line (2019), and Pleasure’all (2023).
In an announcement in regards to the reunion, Rilo Kiley stated, “We’re so very excited to come back again collectively for Simply Like Heaven in Pasadena, California—Los Angeles. As a band, we started right here, and we really feel so lucky to return amongst so many artists and pals, to this group we maintain so expensive, in such an attractive and significant place.”
Different acts enjoying Simply Like Heaven 2025 embrace the Drums, Courtney Barnett, Toro y Moi, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Grouplove, and Slowdive, the latter of whom are listed as “very particular friends.”
