Lions Like Zebra riffed away complacency of their seminal rock-licked embodiment of the punk ethos, ‘Rise’ –

Lions Like Zebra—initially shaped in Portugal in 2009—by no means merely coasted on custom. After testing contemporary sounds and concepts, they fused daring melodies with a stripped-back strategy and a agency rhythmic spine. Now, with their present line-up settled since 2024, together with vocalist, composer, and guitarist João Pedroso alongside Sara Ângelo (rhythm guitar, vocals), Bruno Filipe (lead guitar, backing vocals), Tiago Mendes(bass), and Ruben Rodrigues (drums), they’ve cast a brand new legacy of uncooked sonic power.

Their single Rise, taken from the decade-old seminal EP Lights Off, warrants rekindled consideration for the way in which it scours rhythmic magnetism harking back to Queens of the Stone Age and injects the scuzzy grit of punk n roll. The percussion hits like fists in a riot, whereas the white-hot guitars screech by the atmospheric rigidity. Within the verses, the vocals mood the depth, holding it taut, solely to erupt right into a rallying cry throughout the choruses—urging listeners to rise above complacency and embrace a punk ethos that refuses to settle.

This isn’t a timeworn artefact—it’s an anthem of motion, shaking off mud and lighting a fuse that also crackles with life.

Stream Rise with the remainder of Lions Like Zebra’s EP, Lights Off, on all main platforms, together with Spotify.
