Within the final eight years, multi-instrumentalist Eric Wing has issued one-person black steel and loss of life steel releases below a handful of monikers/types (Lavatory Burial, Scoundrel, Silver, Morose). Morke appears to return the farthest (2017) and we’re premiering the fourth full-length from that endeavor, To Carry On. Wing, who offers vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards on Morke’s newest was assisted by session drummer CJ Yacoub (Canus Dirus, Vulning) and visitor guitarist/vocalist Tanner Anderson (Obsequiae), who added guitar to “Ashes of Feudalism” and ”Wisterian Arbor” and vocals to “Coup D’oeil.” To Carry On is seemingly extra melodic than previous Morke efforts, with chiming, majestic reverb-heavy guitar strains offering the echoing “fortress steel” vibe Wing has been pursuing with the undertaking.

“This album has been a religious labor of affection, blood, sweat, and tears throughout the 2 and a half years of near-weekly work it took to finish, however I couldn’t be extra happy with what I’ve conjured with To Carry On. I pulled from a variety of melodic loss of life steel and darkish steel influences, together with the earliest materials of bands like Fall of the Leafe, Darkish Tranquillity, Evening in Gales, Ablaze My Sorrow, Mithotyn, Agalloch, Obsequiae, Autumnblaze, The Morningside, Empyrium, In The Woods…, and lots of extra to deliver this album to life, and now I can confidently say that that is the album I’ve needed to make from the second I began writing it – with help in no small half from my expensive pals CJ Yacoub, Tanner Anderson, and Neil Schneider, after all. I’m completely past honored to have Decibel premiere the complete stream of my new album, and I provide my sincerest heartfelt thanks. That is an album about love, optimism, perseverance, nature, and the indomitable will of the human spirit, and I’m thrilled to share it with all of you.
