This Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, NPR Music celebrates artists from all corners of Latinidad with an ‘El Tiny’ takeover.
The Tiny Desk has witnessed some fairly legendary guitar solos. Shrouded in fog, this one opens with some shred performed by a puppet. Solely the deeply beloved 31 Minutos might pull off such a dramatic feat, even on the Desk.
31 Minutos is a Chilean TV present, however greater than that, it is an establishment of Latin American kids’s programming. Identified for being equal elements instructional and simply plain foolish, it is good, slicing and dynamic in its presentation of Chilean social points and broader tradition. In between traditional rock refrains attribute of the Southern Cone and cutesy choral moments, the puppeteers and musicians of 31 Minutos rework the Desk into a real playground. Everyone seems to be invited to sing, dance, chortle and have fun the present’s first journey ever to america.
