New Jersey spawns its newest underground dying steel behemoth within the type of Compulsed and their debut album, Amalgamated Anguish. Shaped by present and former members of Waking the Cadaver, Floor, Corpse Hoarder and Embludgeonment, Compulsed are rooted in old-school brutal dying steel, taking cues from bands like Disgorge, Defeated Sanity, Mortal Decay, and Afterbirth.
On their newest single, “Desolate Imprint,” they display that delicate stability of knuckle-dragging brutality and technicality. Talking about discovering that stability of sounds and the way it represents the brand new album, guitarist Mike Mayo informed Decibel:
“With our debut album Amalgamated Anguish, we wished to mix our love of the traditional early 2000s Distinctive Chief-style brutal dying steel sound with the extra progressive early 2000s Willowtip and Relapse Information-style deathgrind sound. We had been closely influenced by bands like Disgorge (US), Cephalic Carnage, Pyemia, Commit Suicide, Cryptopsy, Kalibas and Circle of Useless Youngsters when scripting this album. I feel our first single ‘Desolate Imprint’ is an ideal instance of what we tried to realize with this album.”
Amalgamated Anguish is popping out on August 15 through Hibernation Launch, P2 and Iron Fortress.
