We’re nearly there, of us. As we converse, the solar’s subsolar level is racing northward, towards the celestial equator. In a couple of week, the vernal equinox will lastly convey the official begin of springtime within the northern hemisphere.
There are already indicators. Daffodil leaves are peeking out of the chilly grime. Quickly, strawberries and cherimoyas will fill farmer’s market bins, and the chirps of bluebirds and grackles will saunter in from freshly opened home windows. Within the woods, newts and frogs will crawl out of their winter beds.
The World Cafe workforce has a brand new playlist, recent out of the oven, in anticipation of these sunnier days. Our “Spring Is Springing” combine options tried-and-true cuts from Simon & Garfunkel, Sheryl Crow and Invoice Withers.
There’s some music within the combine that I wish to put you onto as effectively. “Bicicleta” from Dutch/Portuguese trio COLLIGNON is a grooving mixture of psychedelic guitars and slick keyboard riffs, i.e. the right soundtrack for a weekend bike experience to the park. There’s new songs from San Jose energy pop band Star 99, Astrid Sonne and Ichiko Aoba (please take a look at her new album, Luminescent Creatures).
Take a deep breath, crack open a window, top off in your antihistamine of alternative and press play.
